If You Are An Asylum Seeker, Forgo Your Right To Privacy

If You Are An Asylum Seeker, Forgo Your Right To Privacy

Yes, this is what happened yesterday when the management of the Kinsale Direct Provision Centre,  in the absence of a resident, Ms Tanjeena,  invaded her room, breached her privacy and confiscated a stove from the inside of a cupboard by opening it without permission or any authorisation.

Apparently, if you are an asylum seeker, you must understand that your privacy does not worth the same value of an ordinary human being. You are a subhuman, subspecies, anyone with any title is free to roam around your small private place i.e. your room allotted to you by RIA.

Your permission is irrelevant, your privacy is a non-issue, anyone can barge into your room without legal permission and take away whatever they want without any fear of Legal Penalty or Penance.

The use of stove is not allowed in the rooms, but Ms Tanjeena was not using the stove, she needed it to fulfil the special needs of her small 4 years old daughter who suffers from some incurable disease, but she never used the stove in her room, she always used it by bringing it to the kitchen of the Direct Provision centre, where its use is permitted.

An ordinary citizen of Ireland has his or her right to privacy protected by law which cannot be breached unless authorised by the court of law. But apparently, anyone can enter the private place of an asylum seeker and deprive him or her of the valuables without any fear of breach of law. A place whether it is rented or owned is considered to be a private place in the eyes of law for any resident of that place. Small rooms allotted to the asylum seekers are their whole world, their every valuable thing lies there in their rooms, if permitted to be invaded like this, then it would be a direct hit to the Human Rights of already deprived people.

This incident is a question mark on the Ireland’s recently published high ranking integration statistics according to the special Eurobarometer. Authorities should take notice of this incident to avoid any future incidents of such sort.
