Arrangements for voters with disabilities

Several arrangements are in place to assist people with certain disabilities to vote. You can:

  • Vote at an alternative polling station if the local station is inaccessible to you
  • Be helped to vote at the polling station by a companion or the presiding officer
  • Vote by post
  • Vote at a hospital, nursing home or similar institution if you live there – you need to be on the Special Voters List for this

If you qualify to be on the Postal Voters List or the Special Voters List, but you aren’t registered to vote, you can apply to get on the supplementary list.

To get on the supplement in time for the presidential election and referendum on 26 October, your application must reach your local authority by Monday 1 October 2018.

Read more about facilities for voters with disabilities and check if you are registered to vote.
